Mali, Burkina Faso (2011 – 2012)

The West-African Sahel region is unique for its regional pesticide registration system. Nine countries jointly evaluate and authorize pesticides through the Sahelian Pesticides Committee (CSP).

In 2011, FAO and the Inter-State Committee for Drought Control in the Sahel (CILSS) commissioned an evaluation of the performance of the regional registration system, 20 years after its inception.

A team of consultants, including Falconsult, conducted the review and made recommendations to further strengthen the system and bring it in line with international standards.
